RESIDENTIAL DESIGN:

Architectural design is an act of collaborative problem solving, with the primary collaborator being the client, whose functional and aesthetic desires, both explicit and implicit, are translated into designs that are refined through an iterative process. Other collaborators may include a builder/cost estimator, other designers, engineers, and vendors. James’ design sensibilities, building experience, and communication skills work together to ensure his clients’ needs are met.

COMMERCIAL DESIGN:

Over the course of his career, James has designed and managed projects for corporate, institutional, and cultural clients, including Maine Medical Center, Bates College, The University of Southern Maine, and Portland Ballet. He understands the financial and scheduling constraints involved in many commercial projects and is experienced with navigating permitting/regulatory requirements. His skill at communicating with engineering consultants and coordinating their efforts has led to many successful projects and satisfied clients.
